An impromptu travel plan to the land of the Gods was quite enduring, travelling from mumbai to delhi by train with a nights stop over at delhi to catch an early morning train from delhi to haridwar.
Our first stopover was Rishikesh, Haridwar to Rishikesh was an hour by taxi. getting a taxi around is not that difficlut you just have to be smart enough to bargain on ur ride. OLA CABS are also available easily.
We stayed at zostel rishikesh a very quaint hotel with interesting art work, great rooms and a rooftop terrace with a view of the mighty mountains. The hotel is located to the famous Laxman jhula, Ram jhula, Parmath niketan temple and various veg restaurants only.
walking on the streets you will find yoga houses at every nook and corner training you to become a yoga instructor back home.
As we walk through the by lanes to see the famous laxman jhula ,small shacks overlooking the mighty ganga cannot be missed. we stopped by at the beatles cafe had some great veg food and headed back to call it a night.

Heading to Mussorie from Rishikesh is what we were looking forward to as the temperature there was not more than 20 deg as opposed to 36 deg in rishikesh. The road trip to the beautiful hills passing through the doon valley was mystic, we had no hotel booked yet and as we popped the conecern our driver connected with his hotelier friend who gave us room for Rs 2000 a night at value spa and resort. The room had a fantastic view of the hiils on all the sides and it was situated in the heart of mall road. The evening walk on mall road was so pleasant with so many local shops to buy local handicrafts, with a bowl of maggi and some hot jalebis sitting at the edge and watching the peacful and quite valley was mesmerising.
