From Mumbai, Igatputi is approx 120 kms, you can either hire a cab in advance or take a direct train (advisable to pre book train seats well in advance).
There are direct trains from Pune as well.
Tropical retreat was our one night halt destination and it was definitely a retreat in itself, offering an outdoor pool, an in house restaurant, recreation centre, kids play area and a banquet area for any occassion.
Although some part of the resort was under construction which we got to know was a lawn area for weddings, that did not hamper our stay.
Booking the place was not difficult as make my trip had discounts available whic was lower definitely lower than the actual price which we found out by calling the hotel directly.
In my personal opinion, Igatpuri does not have much of activities to offer, but they do have a lot of treks.
The place during the monsoons is more alive and scenic.
There are few lakes , forts and the famous camel valley just a few kms from the hotel.
The Vipasana centre( Meditation centre ) is a must visit. They even offer u a 10 min tutorial on how to mediate with a very minimal fee.
They also have retreat sessions for days/weeks and also months.
There are various dhabas too where u can take away food or simply sit there and enjoy ur meal on the traditional cots.
