HOW TO GET TO BIG BUDDHA, LANTAU ISLAND (HONG KONG):
From Causeway Bay to Big Buddha it takes approx 1 and 1/2 to 2 hrs.
Hop on to a tram from Causeway Bay to Hong Kong MTR, the fare is 2.60 HKD.( a standard tram fare all over Hong Kong )
Take the train to Tung Chung station, the one way fare is 22.9 HKD using the octopus card (THE OCTOPUS CARD IS QUITE ESSENTIAL AND RATES ARE SLASHED IF YOU USE THE OCTOPUS CARD).
At Tung Chung station, head towards the exit gate that reads Lantau cable car.
There are 2 ways to head to Lantau Island ,
1. The bus:
Bus number 23, takes about 40 min at a cost of 17 HKD using the octopus card.
The interval of the buses is around 15 to 20 minutes. The route to the village is scenic, passing through the mountains,and lush greenery.
The bus does stop in the village to pick local passengers ,but not many stops.
This bus takes you to the public transport interchange depot of Ngong Ping Village, where the Big Buddha sits tall.
2. The Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car:
The cost of the cable car if u purchase it on spot is 160 HKD for the standard cable car and twice the price for the Crystal cable car (which is visible on all sides).

The Cable Car ride takes about 25 minutes to get to the village which is definitely faster, and the view is simply breathtaking.
The weather sometimes may not be conducive for a great view and the authorities will give you an alert on the same, so in case if you feel the weather wont do justice to enjoy the view then hop onto the bus.
Once you arrive at the Ngong Ping village, you enter the village sqaure, that has restaurants, retail shops and facilities of the rest room, baby care room, first aid room and much more.
Some of the restaurant chains in the square included, Wo Kee Loong Snacks Express , Subway , Ebeneezer's Kebabs & Pizzeria and many more.
Heading towards the Big Buddha, you can visit the Po Lin Monastery and witness the rich cultural heritage through the architecture of this beautiful monastery. .
The climb to reach the Big Buddha is a fleet of stairs which may seem tiring ,but as u keep climbing up the view gets better.
Seeing the Big Buddha up close is a reward in itself , you can hang around and simply enjoy the view.
If u seem to be an adventurous person , you can walk down the wisdom path , a simply breathtaking trail with butterflies , the cool breeze and wisdom quotes all over .
The total time that you would spend at this amazing attraction would at least take about 2 hours or more depending on how leisurely you would like to spend time here before you head to your next attraction.
